How touchdown-only scoring works

Touchdown-only leagues strip fantasy football down to its simplest form: the only thing that matters is whether your player scores. Rushing yards, receiving yards, and passing yards all count for zero. Touchdowns — and only touchdowns — earn points.

This format is most common in older home leagues, casual office pools, and beginner formats. It radically changes player values: a workhorse back who rushes for 80 yards without scoring is worth as much as a receiver who catches 2 passes for 15 yards without scoring (zero in both cases). The player who punches it in from the 1-yard line is the hero.

Most TD-only leagues use 4-point passing touchdowns and 6-point rushing and receiving touchdowns. Some premium leagues have moved to 6-point passing TDs — toggle that option above.

TD-only scoring FAQs

What is touchdown-only scoring in fantasy football?

Touchdown-only scoring awards points exclusively for touchdowns scored — no points for rushing yards, receiving yards, passing yards, or receptions. Rushing and receiving TDs are worth 6 points each; passing TDs are typically worth 4 or 6 points. It is the simplest fantasy scoring format and is most common in casual leagues.

How many points is a touchdown worth in TD-only leagues?

In touchdown-only leagues: rushing and receiving TDs are worth 6 points each, passing TDs are worth 4 points (standard) or 6 points (premium format), 2-point conversions are worth 2 points to the scoring player, and return TDs are worth 6 points.

Who benefits most from touchdown-only scoring?

Goal-line running backs and red zone receiving tight ends dominate touchdown-only formats. Players who score frequently but may not accumulate as many yards — think short-yardage specialists — become far more valuable than in PPR or standard scoring. Conversely, high-volume receivers who rack up yards without scoring often are worth very little in TD-only.

Is touchdown-only scoring still used?

Yes — TD-only leagues still exist, especially in older home leagues and some beginner formats. It is the simplest scoring system and is easy to manage manually without an app. Competitive leagues have largely moved to standard, half-PPR, or PPR, but TD-only remains popular for casual play.
