FPL Points Calculator
Calculate Fantasy Premier League points instantly — goals, assists, clean sheets, defensive contributions, BPS bonuses, cards and saves for every position. Updated for the 2026/27 season.
Quick Answer: How FPL Points Work
In Fantasy Premier League, a goal is worth 6 points for a goalkeeper or defender, 5 for a midfielder, and 4 for a forward. An assist is always 3 points. A clean sheet is 4 points for GKs and defenders and 1 for midfielders. Playing 60+ minutes earns 2 appearance points.
On top of the base score, the three best performers in each match earn 1–3 bonus points from the Bonus Points System (BPS). Cards, penalty misses, own goals and goals conceded apply deductions. Enter any player's stats above to get the exact gameweek total — free, with no signup.

How FPL bonus points (BPS) actually work
Bonus points come from the Bonus Points System (BPS), a hidden score that tracks every on-field action — passes, tackles, key passes, big chances created, recoveries, errors leading to a goal, and more. After every match the three highest BPS scorers earn 3, 2 and 1 bonus points on top of their base FPL total.
In this calculator, enter the bonus you expect (or already saw on the live BPS table) into the Bonus Points field. Goalscorers, assist providers and goalkeepers with clean sheets typically dominate the BPS leaderboard.
FPL defensive contribution points explained
Since the 2025/26 season, outfield players also score for defensive work, not just attacking returns. Reach the threshold of completed defensive actions in a match and you earn a flat 2 points:
- Defenders — 10 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles (CBIT).
- Midfielders & forwards — ball recoveries count too (CBIRT), so the threshold rises to 12.
The reward is capped at 2 points per match — a player making 20 defensive actions still scores 2, though the extra volume still feeds the Bonus Points System. This rule made ball-winning midfielders and defensive centre-backs genuinely viable FPL picks for the first time.
FPL 2026/27 season — what to expect
The 2026/27 Premier League season starts on 22 August 2026, with the Fantasy Premier League game expected to relaunch in July. As of late May 2026, no 2026/27-specific scoring, chip or pricing changes have been announced — so the safe assumption is that the season begins on the 2025/26 ruleset, including defensive contribution points and two sets of chips.
This calculator uses the official FPL scoring rules and is updated as soon as any changes are confirmed. For a full breakdown of what is confirmed, what carried over, and the new on-pitch laws that affect clean sheets and bonus points, read FPL 2026/27 Scoring System — What's Changed.
FPL calculator FAQs
How are FPL bonus points calculated?
FPL bonus points use the Bonus Points System (BPS), which scores every on-field action — passes completed, tackles won, key passes, big chances created, recoveries, and more. After each match the top three BPS scorers earn 3, 2, and 1 bonus points respectively. Goals, assists and clean sheets carry the highest BPS weighting, so goalscorers and creators usually dominate.
How many points is a goal worth in FPL?
Goalkeepers and defenders earn 6 points per goal, midfielders earn 5 points, and forwards earn 4 points. Defenders score the most because goals from the back are rarer and statistically more valuable to a clean-sheet-driven asset.
Is there a Premier League fantasy calculator that includes bonus points?
Yes — this FPL calculator includes a bonus points field so you can add the 1-3 BPS bonus to the base score. Enter goals, assists, clean sheet status, cards and saves first, then add the expected bonus from the live BPS leaderboard for an accurate projected total.
What is the difference between FPL and Premier League fantasy?
They are the same game. "FPL" is the abbreviation of Fantasy Premier League, the official Premier League fantasy football game run on fantasy.premierleague.com. The scoring rules in this calculator follow the official FPL ruleset.
How are clean sheet points awarded in FPL?
Goalkeepers and defenders earn 4 points for a clean sheet, midfielders earn 1 point. To qualify, a player must play at least 60 minutes without their team conceding while they were on the pitch. Forwards do not earn clean sheet points.
Is this a Premier League points calculator for any player?
Yes. This Premier League points calculator works for any player in any gameweek — goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards. Pick the position, enter the match stats, and it applies the official FPL scoring rules to return the gameweek total. It is free and needs no signup or login.
Can I use this as an EPL points calculator for past gameweeks?
Absolutely. Because the calculator uses the standard EPL fantasy scoring rules, you can plug in stats from any completed gameweek to check or recreate a player’s score. Enter the bonus points from the final BPS table for that match and the total will match the official FPL figure.
Have the FPL scoring rules changed for the 2026/27 season?
As of late May 2026, no 2026/27-specific FPL scoring, chip or pricing changes have been announced. The Fantasy Premier League game typically relaunches in July, ahead of the 22 August 2026 season start. The safe assumption is that 2026/27 begins on the 2025/26 ruleset — which already includes defensive contribution points and two sets of chips. This calculator is updated as soon as official changes are confirmed.
How do FPL defensive contribution points work?
Outfield players earn 2 points for defensive volume in a match. Defenders need 10 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles (CBIT). Midfielders and forwards also count ball recoveries (CBIRT) and need 12. The reward is capped at 2 points per match no matter how many actions a player makes.
When does the FPL 2026/27 season start?
The 2026/27 Premier League season starts on 22 August 2026. The FPL game itself usually opens for squad selection in July. Until launch, you can use this calculator to model any player's score on the official scoring rules.
