Most Fantasy Points Ever: The Highest Single-Game Scores in Fantasy Football History

Most fantasy football weeks feel like a grind — squeezing out 120 points while your opponent somehow gets 118 from a backup running back. But once or twice a season, someone has a game so historic it breaks every expectation.

These are the performances that define what the absolute ceiling of fantasy football looks like.

How We Define "Most Fantasy Points Ever"

Fantasy records are format-dependent. A game that scores 68 points in full PPR might score 45 in standard. For this list, we're using standard half-PPR scoring as the baseline (0.5 points per reception, 4-point passing TDs, 6-point rushing/receiving TDs, 1 pt per 10 rush/rec yards, 1 pt per 25 passing yards).

The number of actual NFL record games is well-documented, but the fantasy translations vary slightly by platform. These figures represent the approximate fantasy value of each performance using common scoring.

The All-Time Quarterback Record

Patrick Mahomes, Week 2, 2018: 478 passing yards, 6 touchdowns

In a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick Mahomes threw for 478 yards and 6 touchdowns in a single half. In standard half-PPR scoring, that performance translates to roughly 60+ fantasy points — one of the highest single-game QB outputs ever recorded.

Mahomes' 2018 season as a whole was arguably the greatest fantasy QB season in history: 5,097 passing yards and 50 touchdowns across the full year, averaging over 30 fantasy points per game.

The All-Time Running Back Record

Adrian Peterson, Week 10, 2007: 296 rushing yards, 3 TDs

On November 4, 2007, Adrian Peterson rushed for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers, setting the NFL single-game rushing record that still stands today. In standard scoring, that performance translates to approximately 47.6 fantasy points from rushing alone — plus any receiving contribution.

No running back has come close to matching that fantasy output in a single game since. Most elite "huge weeks" for running backs top out in the 40–45 point range.

The All-Time Wide Receiver Record

Brandon Marshall, Week 14, 2009: 21 catches, 200 yards, 1 TD

Brandon Marshall's 21-reception game for the Denver Broncos against Indianapolis in 2009 set the NFL record for receptions in a single game. In full PPR leagues, that performance is worth approximately 51 fantasy points (21 catches × 1 pt + 20 receiving yard pts + 6 TD pts). In half-PPR, still a staggering 41 points.

More recently, wide receiver explosions have produced 60+ point full-PPR games when volume combines with touchdowns:

Tyreek Hill, multiple performances — Hill's combination of targets, yards after catch, and touchdowns make him the most common player to approach the 50-point PPR ceiling in recent seasons.

The All-Time Tight End Record

Rob Gronkowski, multiple seasons (2011, 2014)

Rob Gronkowski's 2011 season remains the gold standard for tight end fantasy production: 1,327 yards and 17 touchdowns. In individual game terms, Gronk had multiple performances exceeding 30 fantasy points — extraordinary for a position that typically averages 10–12 per week.

In the modern era, Travis Kelce regularly posts 25–35 point PPR weeks, and has had multiple 40+ point games when touchdowns align with his receiving volume.

The Rarest Score: 100 Fantasy Points in a Week

Getting 100+ total fantasy points from a single starting lineup (all starters combined) is a genuine achievement. Getting 100+ points from a single player in a single week is essentially theoretical — but in full-PPR formats with aggressive bonus tiers, it's been approached.

The closest documented cases involve:

  • A QB with 5+ passing TDs and 400+ yards (roughly 55–60 pts in 6-pt passing TD leagues)
  • A RB with 200+ rushing yards, 2 TDs, and 6+ catches in a PPR league (~50 pts)
  • A WR with 15+ catches, 200 yards, and 2 TDs in a full PPR league (~55 pts)

In 6-point passing TD leagues (a growing format), top QB performances push even higher. Use our QB calculator to model these scenarios.

Highest Kicker Scores

Kickers are an afterthought in most drafts, but historic kicker games can be worth 20+ fantasy points:

  • 4 field goals including a 55+ yarder: roughly 17–18 points
  • Perfect 4-for-4 field goal game with 3 PATs: roughly 19–20 points

What Makes an All-Time Fantasy Game?

Historically, the highest single-game fantasy outputs share a few characteristics:

Volume + efficiency + touchdowns. Elite single-game outputs almost always require both a high number of opportunities AND the player converting those opportunities at an above-average rate. A running back with 30 carries who fumbles twice and scores no touchdowns might generate 20–25 points. The same back with 30 carries, 150 yards, and 2 TDs reaches 39 points.

The right game script. Many record fantasy games happen in shootouts where both teams score freely — the offense gets a head start, keeps throwing even with a lead, and the skill players rack up garbage-time stats on top of the meaningful ones.

Home games and dome weather. Weather-affected games on the road rarely produce record-breaking performances. The all-time lists skew heavily toward dome games and warm-weather home matchups.

Setting the Best Lineup to Chase High Scores

You'll never predict when a historic performance is coming — but you can maximise your chances by targeting players with the highest ceilings each week. That means:

  • High-volume pass catchers against soft secondaries
  • Running backs with goal-line work AND receiving duties
  • QBs in projected high-scoring games on the win-or-bust side

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the highest single-game fantasy score ever?

In full PPR formats, exceptional games have approached 70+ fantasy points for individual players — particularly in high-volume receiving games. The exact record depends on the scoring format. In standard scoring, the ceiling is lower but games in the 50–60 range are documented for the best performances.

Has any player ever scored 100 fantasy points in a single game?

Not in standard scoring formats. In highly customised formats with aggressive bonuses and full PPR, triple-digit single-game totals have been recorded but are not officially tracked.

What position produces the most all-time fantasy points?

Historically, quarterbacks produce the most fantasy points per game due to the volume of passing statistics. However, per-opportunity, elite running backs who score multiple touchdowns per game can match or exceed QB totals.
